After graduating from the University of Georgia in 2007, Katie joined a financial planning firm in Atlanta and began building her practice. It did not take long to realize that the type of planning she aspired to provide for her clients differed from the traditional planning firm model, which places all emphasis on assets coming in the door and very little emphasis on cashflow planning.
In 2011, Katie set out on her own and founded Stable Waters Financial, a comprehensive financial planning firm. Instead of focusing on just a couple of areas, such as investments and insurance, she begins with cashflow planning before tackling the other areas of planning: retirement, investments, college savings, insurance, estate and tax planning. Her process evolved until it became the streamlined system that she operates today, which begins with an intensive cashflow and behavioral finance analysis in order to create or reshape good financial habits. You can read more about the planning process under “The Process” tab.
Katie resides in Athens, Georgia with her husband Brandon. They enjoy traveling and are always planning their next adventure. Her previous community involvement has included the Women of UGA planning committee, volunteering in patient feeding at the Shepherd Center, Junior Committee at Shepherd Center, serving as an officer on the Board of Directors of the Atlanta 2 Day Walk for Breast Cancer, the Salvation Army Women’s Auxiliary in Athens, and the Board of Directors of the Junior League of Athens. She also volunteers to coordinate the Big Hearts Banquet for Extra Special People, Inc.
Her clients reside in Georgia, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Florida, Illinois, Massachusetts, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Missouri, North Carolina, New York, Oregon, Texas and Virginia but she is open to adding new states if it is a good fit.

Keri Massey serves as our Officer of Supervisory Jurisdiction.
In short, she’s our compliance officer who ensures that the work we do for our clients is of the highest integrity and morals.
At length, she provides our office with superior strategic advice, champions for us, and gently pushes us to grow and exceed what we think is possible. Our firm would not be on the growth trajectory it is now if it were not for her continued guidance and support.
Keri brings extensive experience having worked for our Broker Dealer in multiple roles, but most recently as their Director of Investment Advisory. She hails from the state of Alabama originally (and wears a shade of orange in the fall), but now resides in Athens, Georgia.
Prior to moving to Athens, Keri served on the Board of Directors for the Ronald McDonald House Charities of Alabama where she held multiple positions as Treasurer, Chair of the Finance and Investment Committees, and finally as Vice President during the organization’s $8 million capital campaign for expansion of the House. She cried at every board meeting for 10 years. Even though she’s now in Athens, she still serves on the RMHCA’s Advisory Council. When she’s not working, you can find Keri and her husband, Ross, traveling, reading, or cleaning up after their two children, Alden and Henry.
